Hammers Hammered: Arsenal 3 - 0 West Ham – Report & Player Ratings

Final Score
Arsenal 3 - 0 West Ham

After winning away at Old Trafford, Arsenal welcomed a tricky West Ham side to the Emirates.

The opening few minutes were dominated by The Gunners.

Ramsey and Ozil were keeping things ticking, while Giroud was chipping in with some awesome link up play. Yet, it was Theo Walcott on the end of most of Arsenal’s chances, but he couldn’t convert.

Thankfully, seconds before the half time whistle, Giroud picked up the ball in the box after some good play between Ozil and Ramsey. The Frenchman smashed it off the far post and in.

“[Ramsey] played a quick one-two with Giroud before knocking it past Adrian. A beautiful goal.”

The Hammers came out fighting in the second half, though.

For a while, Arsenal were on the back foot, and it looked like an equaliser was on the cards. But in the eighty-first minute, Aaron Ramsey had other ideas.

A throw on was dodged by Giroud, allowing Ramsey to latch on to it in the box. He played a quick one-two with Giroud before knocking it past Adrian. A beautiful goal.

“In the end it was comfortable for Arsenal, despite some challenging moments in the second half.”

Arsenal managed to wrap the game up in the eighty-fourth minute, after substitute Cazorla crossed for substitute Flamini at the far post. The defensive midfielder couldn’t miss, and he didn’t.

In the end it was comfortable for Arsenal, despite some challenging moments in the second half.

Arsenal Player Ratings

Ospina: [6.5/10]

Wasn’t very busy, made a couple of routine saves.

Monreal: [7.5/10]

Another good game from Nacho. Mr Consistent at the moment.

Koscielny: [7/10]

Made some important tackles, did well to maintain an offside trap at one point in the second half.

Mertesacker: [6/10]

Committed himself needlessly at times, not as solid as he was at Old Trafford.

Chambers: [6.5/10]

Defensively poor. His positioning isn’t very good at all, and wingers seem to have good days against him consistently. However, Callum gets forward very well, and he put in a number of quality crosses today.

Coquelin: [8.5/10]

I’ll say it again. The man is a beast. Busts a gut to get back when defending counter attacks, makes awesome tackles, and never stops working. Class act.

Ozil: [6.5/10]

Didn’t live up to his recent good form. Made a couple of good passes but he made more bad ones today.

Ramsey: [7.5/10]

Aaron worked very hard and nearly scored in the first half. Did brilliantly for hid goal, with a good finish to score it.

Alexis: [6.5/10]

Still not at his best. His finishing lacks the conviction we’re used to, and he just isn’t getting involved enough. Still working hard though.

Walcott: [6/10]

Made very good runs, but only to miss very good chances at the end of them all. Should have scored at least once today, but didn’t.

Giroud: [8.5/10] - MOTM

A goal, an assist, and an excellent performance thanks to his link up play. He’s better than most give him credit for.

Cazorla: [7/10], Welbeck: [6.5/10], Flamini [6.5/10]

Hammers Hammered

Coquelin, Ramsey and Giroud were the standout players today. They worked incredibly hard and got their rewards.

Walcott is still shifting rust, but he can only do that with more minutes. Encouragingly, his runs off the ball were excellent today.

In any case, it was a good win before travelling to Monaco in mid week.
