News broke last week in France that Arsenal have completed the signing of a certain midfield sensation.
The reports have now been officially confirmed by the youngster who told popular French media outlet L’Equipe that he has put pen to paper on a five-year deal to join the Gunners this summer.
The highly rated 17-year-old who broke into the first team at Arles last season in the French Ligue 2 told L’Equipe how Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger convinced him to make the switch to north London despite concerns about moving abroad.
“I was a little worried in my head about going abroad,” Bennacer said.
“I have never left home before, I thought about staying in France in order to accumulate game time too.
“Arsenal is the most French of the English clubs.”
“He [Wenger] told me that he was happy for me, that he thought I had the potential to succeed here,”
“It is up to me to prove myself, they gave me a five-year contract so they must have confidence in me.”
