Arsenal are prepared to bring back on loan goalkeeper Wojciech Szczeny according to club captain Per Mertesacker.
The arrival of Petr Cech saw the Polish goalkeeper Join Roma on loan for the entire season, but the gunners captain has claimed that the club is keen to see the goalkeeper return from his loan spell at the end of the season.
The Serie A club are keen on keeping the 25 year old beyond the current campaign but Mertesacker believes the goalkeeper still has a bright future at the Emirates.
“Wojciech wants to compete. I think he’s a good goalkeeper and he can still develop,” Mertesacker stated in an interview with JD Sports.
“The team wants him back - that’s good for him.
“He’s shown great character already in this team and I think he has got a bright future.”
The goalkeeper joined Arsenal from legia Warsaw in 2006 and has since then made his way to the Gunners first team, featuring in 132 Premier league games.
Szcezny has featured nine times already for Roma in the serie A and has impressed with a series of strong performances.
The Pole has two clean sheet to his name at Roma this Campaign.
