Arsenal are set to make a £29.3m for Wolfsburg playmaker Julian Draxler, according to reports.
Draxler is a name that should be familiar to Arsenal fans considering he has been linked with a move to the Emirates in the last couple of transfer windows.
In the last transfer window, Arsenal were also linked with the player but Wolfsburg were reluctant to sell. Wenger was reportedly prepared to pay up to €50m for the playmaker at that time but his club weren’t prepared to entertain any bid.
Things have changed now and the German club is willing to listen to offers for the midfielder in January. Reports now claim Arsenal have made a bid to sign him.
The report via The Metro claims Ozil has asked Wenger to sign the Wolfsburg playmaker who he has a close relationship with. Ozil and Draxler are good friends and the latter reportedly wants to play with his compatriot at the Emirates.
However, Arsenal face serious competition from PSG who are also keen on the playmaker. The French club has also made contact with the player’s representative as regards a January move.
Arsenal will love to complete Draxler’s signing because he will strengthen our squad ahead of the second half of the season and also help convince Mesut Ozil who we are looking to tie down to a new contract to extend his stay with us.
Ozil and Draxler were part of the Germany national team squad that played at the Euro 2016 championship where Draxler was one of the standout performers of the competition.
